Any religion without a self-deprecating sense of humor takes itself far too seriously.
And any religion that can't take a joke from someone outside the faith -- a joke, I'm talking about, not a slander or malicious insult -- is in deep trouble.
So let all of us people of faith take a deep breath and prepare for a little satire at the hands of the British comedy publication called Underground Magazine. You might think of it as the British version of The Onion, a publication that also regularly pokes a bit of fun at religion.
(Here, for instance, is an Onion piece in which someone almost begs to be proselytized.)
In this recent Underground Magazine piece, God announces that, after all, he's disappointed enough in his creation that he's launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to start a new universe.
“I’ll admit," the Lord of Heaven says, "things have been pretty crappy for at least 500 years now.”
As I've mentioned before, the universe was God's Science Fair Project -- on which the final grade was a D. So no wonder there's a new Kickstarter campaign.

HOW CHRISTIANS GET A BAD REP
Being a waitress or waiter (waitperson?) on Sundays and serving tight-wad, mean Christians can be painful. So a pastor set up a website to let the servers gripe. And, oh my, have they.
