PITTSBURG, Mo. -- It will take me a couple of hours-plus today to reach the Hermitage Spiritual Retreat Center on Lake Pomme de Terre just at the edge of town here. (The photo here today is of that lake taken from HSRC.)
I serve on the HSRC board, and we gather once a year to make sure we're properly serving the needs of the people who come here to find a bit of spiritual respite, to catch their breath, to think, to meditate, to give thanks to God.
As you can see by clicking on the link I gave you in the first paragraph here, HSRC is in a different realm from where I spend most of my time, in a busy city. And, it turns out, most of us need a break from our routines whether we acknowledge that or not.
All of them offer opportunities to recenter our lives, to remember to smell the petunias.
If you haven't given yourself the gift of a few days away just to breathe and daydream about God, come to HSRC or to any other such retreat center and see if it doesn't help clear your head and let you see life with new eyes.

AND WHAT NEXT? REPEAL THE LAW OF GRAVITY?
A lawyer from Kenya wants the International Court of Justice to overturn Pontius Pilate's conviction of Jesus. Boys and girls, can you say "too much time on his hands"?
